Data Overage Protection is a feature where your Fido Mobile data is automatically paused once you reach 100% of your plan’s data limit. So you’ll never get a surprise overage charge.

Data Overage Protection is available with postpaid Data, Talk and Text plans that were activated on or after August 7, 2019, as well as postpaid Data and Text plans and Data Only plans activated on or after May 28, 2020. Still not sure? Just sign into My Account and go to your mobile dashboard, where your data usage is displayed. Look for a shield icon near your ‘Remaining data’. If the shield icon is displayed your plan includes Data Overage Protection.If your plan does not have Data Overage Protection, you can still benefit from Data Overage Protection by changing to an eligible plan.

If you’d like to unpause your data you definitely have some options.
1. Use your 5 extra hours of data: Consider using your 5 extra hours of data, which are available with your Data, Talk and Text plan exclusively through the Fido My Account app.
2. Add data to unpause: Add data anytime through My Account. If you have an eligible Data, Talk and Text or a Data and Text plan you can also add data by following the instructions in the texts we sent you as you approached your plan’s data limit.If you choose not to purchase additional data, your data will remain paused until it resets at the start of your next bill cycle.

1. Customers with a Data Only plan: No data limit alerts or notifications are sent to customers with a Data Only plan. However, you can quickly and easily check your data usage in My Account.

2. Customers with an eligible Data, Talk, and Text plan, or a Data and Text plan: Yes. First, we’ll send you a text when you’ve reached 90% of your plan’s data limit. We’ll also text you once you reach 100% of your plan’s limit, letting you know that your data has been paused. You’ll be able to purchase more data by replying to either of these text alerts. And if you purchase more data, we’ll text you when you’ve used 70% and 100% of your added data.

If you think you might go past your plan’s data limit this month and don’t want to be paused you definitely have some options.

1. Use your 5 extra hours of data: Consider using your 5 extra hours of data, which are available with your Data, Talk and Text plan exclusively through the Fido My Account app.

2. Add data to avoid being paused: Add data anytime through My Account. If you have an eligible Data, Talk and Text plan or a Data and Text plan you can also add data by following the instructions in the texts we send you as you approach your plan’s data limit.

Data Overage Protection: Available with in-market postpaid plans including data except Basic plans. Once you have used all the data included in your plan, your access to data services will be paused until the end of your current billing cycle, or you have the option to purchase more data. Except for Data only plans, we will send you a text message notifying you when you have used 100% of the data allotment included in your plan.
